EXCITING NEW DESTINATIONS
We’re delighted to announce that SINGAPORE is our third international route and a destination that’s gained instant popularity with our excellent fares. From world-famous shopping to the amazing Night Safari and a thriving night-life, it’s an action-packed break at a snip. We fl y there direct from Manila and Cebu, with connecting flights from Davao.
We now fly all the way up to LAOAG in the northernmost part of Luzon. Known as the Sunshine State of the Philippines, Laoag is teeming with culture, beautiful churches and beaches nearby.
We’ve added the Special Economic Zone of CLARK as our other gateway to the north, with regular direct fl ights from Cebu. Clark, along with Subic, makes up the center of tourism and trade in Central Luzon.
LEGASPI is our first stop in the province of Bicol. Not only is Legaspi home to the world-famous Mayon Volcano, but natural black sand beaches have been created from the erosion of volcanic rocks and lava. For trekkers, foot trails lead to the stunning Vera and Palale Falls in Malinao and Busay Falls in Malilipot.
At the northern end of the Zamboanga peninsula, we now fl y to DIPOLOG. As befi ts the one-time home of national hero Dr Jose P Rizal, there are plenty of ways to retrace his steps around the city.
Right at the southern tip of the Philippines, our newest destination is GENERAL SANTOS. Known as “Gensan”, this bustling port with vibrant inhabitants is surrounded by cattle ranches and asparagus farms.
Refer to our Time to Travel to… destination guides from Pages 74 to 89 for what to do in all these fabulous destinations. For more details on all our routes, visit our website at www.cebupaci.#64257; cair.com, where you can also book online in real time.
LEATHER LOUNGING
We’re afraid the newest luxury item onboard our fl ights are things you can’t take with you. By the end of October, every aircraft in our fl eet will be kitted out in these soft, stylish and sumptuous leather furnishings in our signature blue and green colors, and with our logo embossed on the headrest.
Meet Ceb
You might have seen him around already, as our cute little mascot is currently enjoying being at the center of attention on billboards throughout the Philippines. He’s also the star of our website and stands for all the things we’re most proud of about our services. He’s loyal, friendly and very good fun.
MOST OF ALL, WE LOVE HIS SMILE. DON’T YOU?
THE NEWEST FLEET IN THE PHILIPPINES
We are proud of our position as the airline with the newest planes in the country. We are even one of the newest in Asia, with the average age of our planes being less than 10 months old, thanks to the fl eet of brand-new Airbuses we started fl ying in July.
Now our fleet comprises brand-new Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. The DC9 planes that have served us for the past 10 years took their fi nal trip back in July, and by February next year, we’ll have an additional two Airbus A320 aircraft — an investment that is worth every penny of the US$670 million we spent to upgrade our fl eet.
Lance Gokongwei, CEB president and Chief Executive Offi cer, explains: “We have always been committed to serving Filipinos. Our vision is to make it possible for everyone to fl y by offering the lowest fares to wherever Cebu Pacifi c Air operates.”
He adds, “And now, with our brand-new and bigger Airbus planes, we will be able to offer more seats at lower fares to the public.”
These new planes have a number of claims to posterity — they have the most modern designs, the widest and most comfortable cabins, and the highest degree of operational effi ciency of any single-aisle aircraft.
WELCOME ONBOARD!
Name That Tune
“Tra la la, la de daaaa, do wop wop o doo wop.” Can you guess what song this is? Well, it might help if you had our team of sweet-voiced cabin crew tra la la-ing the tune down the microphone.
Hands up if you can name it! (It’s the Bee Gee’s “Night Fever” of course!) Our guests have to guess what tune our budding vocalists are tr illing. There are prizes for those who get it right. We’re not called the
world’s most fun airline for nothing.
Well, we’re not called the world’s mos t fun airline at all (yet!). But we do pride ourselves on being the only domestic airline to offer Fun Flights. Infl ight choice of games and prizes ensure that all our guests have a unique and wonderful flying experience with Cebu Pacific Air.
So join in, whether it’s trivia, “Name that Movie!” or “Bring Me!”.
LOVE IS IN THE AIR
Seen the Adam Sandler/ Drew Barrymore film, The Wedding Singer?
Well, Valentine’s day last year brought one of the most romantic moments on a Cebu Pacifi c fl ight, strongly reminiscent of the famous airplane scene in that movie.
Carlos Arriola, who had been with his girlfriend Jenny Guerrero for five years, had secretly made special arrangements with our staff. While telling Jenny they were going to Cebu for a day to set up a sales convention, the pair boarded the fl ight as normal.
Little did Jenny know, not only were the cabin crew in on a secret, but so were all the other guests!
Carlos volunteered to sing a song as part of the Fun Flight game, but instead of singing, he recited a poem he’d written especially for Jenny, that culminated in him asking for her hand in marriage.
Through her tears, Jenny managed to say yes and everyone began to sing “Grow Old With You”. Just like in the movies. As the plane landed, the newly engaged couple were greeted by ground crew for the start of their holiday. Their story even made local news.
TOP TIPS ON PREPARING FOR YOUR FLIGHT
Read up on your destination. Know where you’re flying to. Check our website online, or grab a guidebook before you set off.
Get to the airport with plenty of time to spare.A two-hour check-in period not only gives you time to get through the various security checks, but also allows you to browse the airport shops.
Wear comfortable clothing. You want to relax, so avoid business suits if possible. However, do make sure you look smart and presentable — no pyjamas please!
Eat lightly before getting onboard. The plane is a food-free zone, although you can bring some snacks of your own if you like.If you’ve eaten too much before taking off, you’re likely to feel uncomfortable in mid-air.
Do not bring food into other countries if you’re fl ying out of the Philippines.
Add something to make your luggage easy to spot when claiming your bags. Watch your weight limit: 20 kilos for check-in luggage and seven kilos for carry-on bags.
Make sure your medications are in their original packaging if you are bringing pills with you. This is to avoid being held up with questions. Make sure you turn off your mobile phone. Its airwaves interfere with the plane’s electronic signals.
Yawning helps to release the pressure in your ears.
TRY SOME INFLIGHT EXERCISES:
• Gently circle your ankles in a clockwise motion fi ve times, then do it anti-clockwise.
• Roll your neck gently, making sure to open your mouth when you put your head back.
• Stand up as often as possible to keep your circulation going.
• Stretch.
Lastly, enjoy the flight! Here, it’s a mobile-less, deadline-free zone — with nothing to do but read, sleep, relax and even join in with the fun, onboard games led by the cabin crew. Have a good trip!
