AIRLINE NEWS

Completing Refleeting

With the recent arrival of our 14th brand-new aircraft, our ambitious refleeting program is complete! We have the youngest fleet in the country, and one of the youngest in Southeast Asia — and these planes mean we can cover more of the country, increase our frequencies and keep a clear eye on safety, which is never compromised with Cebu Pacific. Leading the way in the airline industry, CEB is pushing forward with new initiatives to make sure our guests get the best possible service every time.

Fly to Taipei

Home to the world’s tallest building, Taipei 101; proud owners of the world’s fastest elevators; the world’s longest fire-cracker attempt…

Our newest international route is to Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, which can now be reached daily by Cebu Pacific Air. Here are four more good reasons to visit soon:

• 4 April is Women and Children’s Day and Tomb-Sweeping Day.
• 1 May is Labour Day.
• 8 May is Mother’s Day.
• 31 May is the Dragon Boat Festival.

We’ve received a great response to our Smile Photography Competition, so well done to everyone who has entered so far!
The standard is very high, and we’ve been so encouraged by the response that we’ve decided to extend the deadline to the end of April.
So keep those submissions coming. Results will be in the next issue of Smile!

Holiday Package

Cebu Pacific Air has teamed up with Europcar to make your holiday planning even easier — and with even better rates!

Internationally, the Fun Tours package covers Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, so just decide where you want to go and what you want to do, and let us do the rest so you can be assured of a perfect, hassle-free vacation. All you have to do is call our centre hotline (2) 702-0888 in Manila or (32) 230-8888 in Cebu.

Domestically, we can manage all your travel needs too, so even if you’re not visiting relatives or friends, we can make your trip smooth and enjoyable.

More flights for summer

There’s no excuse not to get away for a summer break, with Cebu Pacific offering even more flights. We now fly from Manila:

5 times a day to Davao
4 times a day to Cagayan de Oro
4 times a day to Bacolod
4 times a day to Iloilo
3 times a day to Kalibo

Completion of the Refleeting Program is only the beginning for Cebu Pacific. We are now purchasing an additional 20 Airbus Aircraft worth US$1.3 billion, so we can provide more people the opportunity to fly around the Philippines and the rest of the region.

Mr Gokongwei explains: “With this fleet expansion, we will be more than doubling our capacity. This means that we will be able to provide more low fares both in the domestic and international routes we operate as well as spreading our wings to new destinations.”

Love is in the air

Another proud moment for a happy couple — and a proud moment for Cebu Pacific. Advertising manager Francisco Torno III, 34 years, popped the question — 37,000 feet above sea level!

Francisco was taking his girlfriend, Gretchen Montelibano, 29, to Bacolod on Valentine’s Day as part of the big, romantic surprise. He asked her to clear her diary for the day and told her to be ready at 5:30am for him to pick her up. “I only found out we were coming to Bacolod when we arrived at the airport and checked in!” she said.

During the inflight game of “Bring Me”, Torno had alerted the cabin crew to ask someone to raise a pink leather-bound Bible, knowing that she always traveled with hers. As Gretchen went forward to claim her prize, she was asked to sing a song in front of fellow passengers. Rushing to her aid, Francisco offered to serenade her. “I sang lines from our favorite song, ‘The Way You Look Tonight.’ Then, I got on my knees and asked ‘Would you be my wife?’” he said.

A diamond engagement ring was promptly whipped out, and an amazed and thrilled Gretchen said “yes” to cheers from delighted guests!

On behalf of Cebu Pacific and all our Smile readers, we wish Gretchen and Francisco a long and happy life together.
