WELCOME

Welcome on board! It’s an exciting time to be flying Cebu Pacific Air!

Whether you’re going to another part of the Philippines, or to one of our ever-increasing number of international destinations, I hope you enjoy your flight.

We are delighted that our routes are expanding into China and look forward to welcoming many of you to Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou and Macau in the coming months.

Like China, the Philippines is a country full of endless possibilities. The arrival of our new ATR72 aircraft in early 2008 will help everyone get around our islands so we can explore our homeland with pride. We grew guest numbers by 89 per cent for the 12-month period of June 2006 to May 2007 compared to the previous year. This tells us how much Filipinos enjoy traveling, especially on our affordable fares and brand new planes.

We bring our life’s experiences from other parts of the world back home with us, making our country, as well as ourselves, richer and more outward looking.

Through Smile, we’ve been able to hear from new travelers who had previously never been away from the Philippines, but who are now taking advantage of CEB’s lowest airfares to visit new places and parts of the world. Today Manila, tomorrow Shanghai! Or maybe Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur…

In this issue of Smile you’re bound to find plenty of things to whet your appetite for more travel. We’ve got fantastic features on our new routes: all about shopping in Shanghai, and an amazing tale of two cities, comparing Xiamen with its neighbor, Gulangyu.

As well as three international features to celebrate our thrust into China, the overriding theme of this issue is being proud to be Pinoy. It’s action-packed: an interview with Reggie Yuson, outdoor sculptor extraordinaire, celebrating the surfing island of Siargao, road tripping through Mindanao, and much more.

We also turn to you for our Local Life section and love to hear your tips about the best places to go in your hometown. It’s personal information like this that makes Smile your magazine, and CEB your airline.

Have a great flight.
