WELCOME

Seasons greetings from me and all at Cebu Pacific Air. The “ber” months are a time for celebrating the year’s good news and here at Cebu Pacific, we’ve been pleased to bring you great new flights, the newest planes, new flight connections and easier access to the whole of Asia throughout the year.

The past 12 months have been particularly busy for the airline industry. Low fare airlines have become increasingly popular, cutting the cost of flying, and more people than ever are traveling for the very first time.

In the Philippines alone, the first nine months of 2007 saw a 23 percent increase in domestic travel, one of the highest growth rates in the world.

At Cebu Pacific the year has brought some great highlights. We’ve increased the frequency of our flights around the Philippines, so you can get to the capital Manila, our beautiful resorts, see friends and family who live away from home and explore the wonders of our country. With new hubs in Cebu and Davao, connecting flights can be booked in advance so the whole travel process is smoother and more efficient.

Internationally, it’s never been easier to get around the region. This time last year we flew to six international destinations; by the end of 2007 we’ve doubled that number to 12. In the third quarter of the year we added over one million passengers, sharing our low-cost, great-value ethos with even more people. Thanks to you we’ve become the country’s number one domestic airline. It’s celebration time indeed for all of us in the Philippines!

This issue of Smile is themed around celebrations. We’ve got Christmas activities in Filipino homes around the region and a feature on the unique Ati-atihan festival. Through the eyes of a Silay native, we look at our cultural legacy, and a wealth of travel stories take you to new destinations such as Sugar Beach which is only a bus ride from Bacolod. For shopping, check out our guide to the markets in Jakarta, Hong Kong and Bangkok and don’t forget our brave writer who tested out Enchanted Kingdom dressed as a clown and discovered the true meaning of celebration!

All this and more. So settle back, get ready for your holiday and enjoy the flight!
