AN ESPRESSO WITH…

MiG Ayesa

WE TALK TO THE FILIPINO FINALIST ON TV SHOW ROCK STAR: INXS AND CATCH HIM ON TOUR WITH THE QUEEN MUSICAL WE WILL ROCK YOU.

HOW ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO TOURING IN ASIA?
I love Asia in any capacity, but with the prospect of bringing We Will Rock You to a whole new audience, I am bursting out of my skin!

HAS WE WILL ROCK YOU BEEN ADAPTED FROM ITS ORIGINAL RUNS?
We tweak the show depending on where it is. This helps to bring the local audiences closer to the subject matter, and make it more enjoyable for them.

WHEN WERE YOU LAST IN THE PHILIPPINES?
In December last year to launch my debut CD and to perform at the MTV Music Summit. It’s time for another visit!

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SUPPORT THE FILIPINO AUDIENCE HAS GIVEN YOU?
There is no better support than that from your own people. I am proud to be a Filipino and am honoured by the way the Filipinos are proud of me. The Philippines is where it all started for me. Filipino is a state of mind!

WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM ROCK STAR: INXS?
I learned to never doubt myself. I was so confident when I first joined the show, and by the end of the show I was a total wreck. After it all ended, I felt that I was right all along.

SO WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?
I am writing new songs and am planning to record my second CD soon. I have also recently moved to New York, so I’m planning to spend time getting to know my new city and possibly auditioning for some shows.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?
I would like to have children, probably already going to school, and we would be sharing our time from our dream homes in Sydney’s northern beaches, New York City and London. I would love to be touring the world playing my music and doing the occasional film and odd theatre show on Broadway. I would like to be in bliss and satisfaction with my personal and professional life.
