our warm welcome with a smile

Welcome aboard your flight on Cebu Pacific! We wish you a fantastic journey ahead.

This issue is all about going green, and we’ve got a host of stories on ecologically-friendly activities and adventures.

As an airline, Cebu Pacific is already working to increase awareness of the environment in the Philippines with a number of initiatives. We’ve linked up with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to launch ‘Kilometers for a Cause’, where we offer our passengers the option to give a ‘fuel offset’ contribution for WWF initiatives, the first move of its kind in the country. Read more about this in our Airline News on page 116.

Our Navitaire system of online booking and ticketless travel means that we save paper by doing everything electronically – your booking is instant and paperless. Even our latest route is to a very green destination. Kota Kinabalu is on the island of Sabah, one of the most lush and fertile in the world. If you visit, be sure to go and meet the orangutans, then climb the breathtaking Mount Kinabalu!

Back at home, this issue of Smile celebrates the incredible beauty and diversity of the Philippines. One of the most exciting parts of the issue is our interview with Dr Heaney (page 62). We’ve called him Dr Discovery, because he’s one of the leading forces behind discovering exciting new wildlife in the Philippines. From a breed of rodent that uses its front paws to hold up bright blue earthworms as it eats them, shucking off the dirt with one tiny paw, to giant fruit bats, Dr Heaney proves that the Philippines is one of the most thrillingly bio-diverse places in the world – as he puts it: “more exciting than Madagascar.”
