AIRLINE NEWS

On time, each time!

After two months of operation at NAIA-3, all systems are chugging along efficiently with Cebu Pacific. The airline registered an average on-time performance (OTP) of 86.5% for the period of August 8 to September 7. This is impressive since the average OTP for European carriers was at 77.6% for the first quarter of 2008, and 75.7% for North American carriers in July 2008. The CEB staff makes your waiting time as short as possible – average processing time per passenger is one minute and 30 seconds for domestic flights and three minutes and 30 seconds for international flights. “My check in was seamless and quick that I had time to finish typing a report at a coffee shop,” says Jasmine, a passenger en route to Singapore. Record-breaking figures

Low-fare leader, Cebu Pacific (CEB), just set a new record for carrying the most number of domestic passengers in a single month. The airline made history by flying 512,081 passengers domestically during the month of May 2008, quashing the previous record set by Philippine Airlines 11 years ago – 463,423 passengers flown in May 1997. This impressive achievement is due to CEB’s all-year round offers of low fares and maverick promotions. The airline, which is the largest domestic carrier in the Philippines, currently offers 1,006 local flights weekly and operates 39 routes to 27 domestic destinations. Welcome CEB’s newest hub – Clark!

Breaking news! With the launch of CEB’s newest operational hub – Clark – the world just got smaller. Beginning November 8, Cebu Pacific will be offering flights from Diosdao Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in Clark, Pampanga to Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau and Bangkok. The bustling hub joins Manila, Cebu and Davao as CEB’s gateways to Asia. In fact, here’s another first for Cebu Pacific: the airline makes history as the only Filipino carrier operating international flights out of Clark. It is also the only airline offering a direct Clark-Hong Kong and Clark-Bangkok service. To make it all happen smoothly, an Airbus A319 aircraft will be based in the Clark hub to operate daily flights from Clark to Hong Kong and Singapore; four times weekly to Macau; and three times weekly to Bangkok. CEB will fly from Cebu to Clark daily starting October 1.

We’ll pay you to travel light!

We’re not kidding! Cebu Pacific will slash PHP200 off your fare price for both domestic and international flights when you have no check-in baggage. Here’s why traveling light makes sense: Less baggage means a lighter aircraft that burns less fuel. “So if passengers travel light, our fuel costs would likewise go down and we are able to pass on the savings to our passengers,” shares Candice Iyog, vice president for marketing and product. Do note that hand-carried luggage is still limited to 7kg per person (for those flying to Caticlan, it is 5kg per passenger).
