A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino

Penned by National Artist of the Philippines for Literature, Nick Joaquin, the play is set in Manila circa 1942 and tells the tale of Don Lorenzo Marasigan’s painting and its owners, his unmarried daughters Paula and Candida. When their father refuses to sell or donate this much-coveted piece of art, the two women are at a loss as to how to pay their household bills. Watch the plot unfold as people interested in the painting come into their lives. This engaging, well-plotted metaphor for the passing of Old Manila is worth watching. Tickets start at PHP250.
