TRIVIA Cagayan de Oro had several names before this one stuck. The oldest name of the city was Kalambagohan or Malambagohan, coined by the Manobos, which actually means “a place full of lambago trees”

TOUCHDOWN CEB runs a shuttle van to town. Or you can take a taxi for PHP300 or a cheaper jeepney service at PHP20. Taxis, jeepneys, motorcycles and multicabs ply the town proper

BY DAY Apart from whitewater rafting, head to SM City or Limketkai Mall for some fine dining experiences. Book a soothing massage at one of the many spas located around the city

BY NIGHT Nite Café in the Divisoria area is a must-visit with grilled seafood, live bands, and bargain shopping until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays

SLEEP Pearlmont Hotel is newly renovated and located close to Limketkai Mall and many restaurants and bars. Limketkai Dr, pearlmontinn.com/contact.php
