Siargao

iArea code: (86)
Currency: Philippine Peso (PHP1 = US$0.02)

TRIVIA It is said that Siargao was “discovered” as a premier surf destination by American surf photographer John Callahan in 1993. Today, hundreds throng there, not just to surf but to get an island fix

TOUCHDOWN Taxis are available both at the airport and at Dapa Pier. You can also ride a habal-habal or an extended seat motorbike. Mini and jeepney buses ply the island

BY DAY Go island hopping! If the surfing doesn’t appeal, take a boat to check out the great beaches, including the nearby “Naked Island” — a white sand bar with nothing on it!

BY NIGHT Hang out on Siargao’s baywalk along the pier in General Luna. Lots of snack bars and karaoke joints for those who brave enough to belt out a tune!

SLEEP For a cozy home away from home, check out Siargao Inn. It has rooms (fan and air-con) and bungalows for big groups. Tel: +63 (918) 543 6020, info@siargao-inn.com
