TRIVIA The local dialect, chavacano, originated from the Spanish word “chabacano” which literally means “poor taste.” During the Spanish colonial period, it was called “lenguaje del calle” or “language of the street.”

TOUCHDOWN From the airport, take a jeepney (PHP7) or tricycle (PHP20–25) to the pueblo (city) as there are only a few taxis. Plissap Rent-A-Car charges a minimum of PHP150.

BY DAY Witness locals weave intricate textiles on giant looms at the Yakan Weaving Center. The Yakan community is famous for beautiful woven cloth made into handicrafts.
